City of Janesville Recognizes 2024 Volunteer Award Winners

The City of Janesville recently held its annual Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Ceremony at the Hedberg Public Library to honor individuals who have dedicated themselves to volunteer service within the community. Over 600 volunteers were recognized for their commitment to serving the City over the past year.

Among the recipients of the 2024 City Volunteer Awards were five distinguished individuals who were acknowledged for their exceptional service in various areas. David Hyde from the Janesville Transit System received the Administrative Volunteer of the Year award, while Dave Sheen from the Janesville Fire Department was named Public Safety Volunteer of the Year. Paul Williams from the Recreation Division was recognized as the Parks & Recreation Volunteer of the Year, and Teresa Nguyen from JATV Media was honored as the Library Volunteer of the Year.

Speaking about the awardees, it was noted that each of them contributed with their unique effort and expertise, showcasing a high level of commitment and dedication to the community.

In addition to individual awards, the 2024 Park Place Partner Award was presented to Jackie Wood by Assistant to the City Manager Nick Faust. This prestigious award recognizes individuals whose long-standing volunteer partnership with the City has made a lasting impact. Ms. Wood, a highly active community member, has been involved in various roles including serving on the City’s Historic Commission, as a Rock County Supervisor, president of the Women’s Club, president of the United Way Board, and president of the YWCA. The City acknowledged Ms. Jackie Wood's extensive legacy of volunteer service and community impact through this distinguished award.
