On the evening of Saturday, June 22, an EF-2 tornado touched down on the south side of the City of Janesville. This weather event caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure in the area.

The City of Janesville continues to caution residents about door-to-door repair crews who use aggressive, high-pressure sales tactics to secure contracts after a storm. These contractors, often referred to as "storm chasers," have been known to provide poor-quality work or collect upfront payments without completing any work.

The South Central Wisconsin Builders Association (SCWBA) has compiled a list of local contractors accepting priority calls for tornado recovery services. This list is available at scwba.com and will be updated as necessary. Forward Janesville, Inc. has also created a directory of local businesses accepting calls for tornado recovery services, which can be accessed on Forward Janesville's website.

Residents are encouraged to seek contractor recommendations from trusted sources such as friends, neighbors, and insurance agents.
