Today, Bryan Steil, representing Wisconsin's 1st District, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on House Administration for the 119th Congress. This appointment was made by Speaker Mike Johnson.

In a statement following his appointment, Steil expressed his commitment to continuing efforts in strengthening elections and ensuring accessibility to the Capitol. "As Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, I am excited to continue working to strengthen our elections and ensure the Capitol is open and accessible for all Americans. I am proud of the progress we have made so far, but our work is just beginning. I thank Speaker Johnson for his support, and I look forward to continuing to achieve results over the next two years," he stated.

Speaker Mike Johnson commended Steil's leadership: “Under Chairman Steil’s leadership, the Committee on House Administration has gone above and beyond the call of duty in preserving the integrity of our elections and keeping the House of Representatives open and accessible for the public,” said Johnson. He further noted that House Republicans are grateful for Steil's principled leadership.

The Committee on House Administration holds jurisdiction over several key areas including federal election law where it considers amendments and monitors congressional elections nationwide. It also manages daily operations within the House of Representatives, sets budgets for committee expenses, oversees various legislative branch entities such as the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Institution, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for Capitol security oversight.

Steil previously chaired this committee during both the 118th Congress and served during the 117th Congress as Ranking Member on its Subcommittee on Elections.
