Residents of the Chippewa-Eau Claire Metropolitan Planning Area are being asked to complete an online survey for the 2025 Long Range Transportation Plan. Three open houses will be held in conjunction with the survey.
According to the organization's Facebook post, the survey asks questions about different transportation modes—driving, public transit, walking, and bicycling—and infrastructure used to navigate the Chippewa-Eau Claire urban area. Responses will help guide planning efforts for the area's transportation system.
The survey indicates that the planning area starts at Eagle Point and Anson and stretches south to Pleasant Valley through Chippewa Falls, Lake Hallie, Eau Claire, and Altoona. Interstate 94, U.S. Highways 12 and 53, and Routes 29 and 312 traverse parts of this area.
The survey asks residents to identify types of transportation they've used for various purposes such as work, school, shopping, medical visits, recreation, or visiting government or social service agencies. Planners seek information on what modes of transportation have been used in the past 12 months and what is their primary mode of transportation.
According to the Facebook post, the first open house will be held on March 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Fish House in Altoona. On March 6 an open house will take place in Eau Claire from 2 to 7 p.m. at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library's Carnegie Room (Room 104). The third and final open house will be at the Chippewa Falls Public Library's Virginia O. Smith Meeting Room on March 11 from 2 to 7 p.m.
