Bryan Steil, U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin’s 1st district since 2019, recently addressed issues related to payment systems modernization, legislative activity, and election procedures through a series of posts on his social media account.
On July 17, 2025, Steil emphasized the importance of consumer privacy as financial infrastructure evolves: "As we modernize U.S. payment systems, protecting consumer privacy must be a top priority."
The following day, he announced an upcoming event in Washington: "Today: bill signing at 2:30pm ET" (posted July 18, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Steil commented on findings from a recent report concerning election administration practices. He wrote: "The report highlights not only potential violations of state law, but also
- A former Clerk taking a multi-week vacation while uncounted ballots sat in Madison
- A repeatedly unlocked brewery serving as an election staging location
- An ‘unauthorized person’ sleeping in that" (posted July 18, 2025).
Steil has served in Congress since replacing Paul Ryan in 2019 and represents Wisconsin’s 1st District. Born in Janesville in 1981 and currently residing there, Steil holds degrees from Georgetown University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
