Bryan Steil, U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin, used his social media platform on August 14, 2025, to address election administration issues in Madison and highlight the anniversary of Social Security.

In a post dated August 14, 2025, Steil wrote: "In 2024, the Madison Clerk failed to count nearly 200 ballots while she was on vacation baking cookies. Today, the city of Madison is trying to challenge compliance Wisconsin Elections Commission orders. This is unacceptable - we must have accountability in Madison." The tweet references an incident involving uncounted ballots and ongoing disputes over compliance with state election directives.

Later that evening, Steil marked a historical milestone for federal benefits programs: "Today marks 90 years since Social Security was signed into law. I am working to protect and preserve Social Security, including providing a new $6000 deduction for seniors."

Steil has represented Wisconsin in Congress through several election cycles. In the most recent general election in 2024, he defeated Peter Barca with 54% of the vote. He previously won against Ann Roe in 2022 with just over half the votes and had similar victories against Roger Polack in 2020 and Randy Bryce in 2018.
