Bryan Steil, U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district, posted a series of messages on his official social media account on October 1, 2025. The posts addressed current political events and community observances.

Later that day, at 4:16 p.m. UTC, he called for legislative action regarding the federal government shutdown: "It’s time for Senate Democrats to reopen the government."

At 11:15 p.m. UTC, Steil acknowledged Yom Kippur with a message to Jewish constituents and others observing the holiday: "Wishing my Jewish friends and neighbors a meaningful fast."

Steil has served in Congress since first winning election in 2018 against Randy Bryce by a margin of approximately twelve percentage points. He was re-elected in subsequent cycles—defeating Roger Polack in 2020 with about fifty-nine percent of the vote, Ann Roe in 2022 with just over fifty-four percent, and Peter Barca in 2024 with similar margins—maintaining steady support within his district.
