Beloit College issued the following announcement on Dec. 14
The Beloit College men's basketball team fell to a solid Carthage College squad 88-67 Tuesday evening in Flood Arena. The Firebirds had the hot hand shooting 63-percent in the first half to open up an early lead.
The Buccaneers shot 43-percent from the floor in the first half but couldn't compete with the offensive efficiency produced by Carthage as they found themselves trailing 49-32 at the break.
The Firebirds led by as much as 28 in the second half before the Bucs went on a run to cut the deficit to 15 with just under three minutes to play but they ran out of time to narrow the gap further.
Beloit shot 44-percent from the floor, 31-percent from three-point range and just 50-percent from the free throw line in the game. Carthage ended up at 56-percent from field, 44-percent from long range and 67-percent from the charity stripe.
Brian Rusch and Azeez Ganiyu led Beloit with 12 points each combining to shoot 9-14 from the floor in the game. Ganiyu added a team-high eight rebounds and two blocks. Mylan Walters dished out a game-high five assists in the contest.
