Monroe School District had the highest enrollment among Green County districts, welcoming 2,241 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.5% of them were boys, and 47.5% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 95.4% of the Monroe School District's total enrollment.

Among the six districts in Green County, Brodhead School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,016 students, while New Glarus School District welcomed 961 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Monroe School District roughly covers schools within Green County, with its main office in Monroe.

In the previous school year, Monroe School District also had the highest number of students among Green County districts.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
