Janesville School District had the highest enrollment among Rock County districts, welcoming 9,537 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.4% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 91.7% of the Janesville School District's total enrollment.

Among the eight districts in Rock County, Beloit School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 5,165 students, while Milton School District welcomed 3,425 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Janesville School District roughly covers schools within Rock County, with its main office in Janesville.

In the previous school year, Janesville School District also had the highest number of students among Rock County districts.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
