The School District of Janesville is now accepting intra-district transfer requests for the 2025-26 school year. Parents or guardians seeking to enroll their children in a school different from the one assigned can submit applications between December 2 and December 13, 2024. The forms are available at school offices and the Education Services Center (ESC) located at 527 S. Franklin St., Janesville, WI.
Completed applications must be submitted by December 13, 2024, along with a parent or guardian photo ID and proof of residency dated within the last 60 days. Decisions on complete requests received by this deadline will be communicated to families by January 16, 2025.
Specific guidelines apply for different grade levels. For kindergarten students, applications must be submitted by appointment between December 2 and December 13, 2024, at the New Student Enrollment Office at the ESC. Children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2025, to qualify for enrollment in kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
When enrolling kindergarten students, parents or guardians need to provide a birth certificate, immunization record (accessible through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry), photo identification, and proof of residency.
Applications for transfers from first to fifth grade also require an appointment at the New Student Enrollment Office. These requests are subject to approval by the Pupil Services Department.
For middle and high school students (grades six through twelve), transfer applications should be directed to the student’s current assigned school under the pathway system model. Middle and high school principals will review these submissions.
Questions regarding open enrollment can be addressed to Deen Hartley, Open Enrollment Specialist, at 608-743-5152.
