Lions Beach closed due to elevated E. coli levels
The City of Janesville Recreation Division conducts weekly water quality tests at Lions Beach, located at 1401 Palmer Drive. These samples are analyzed by the State Hygiene Lab in Madison to monitor for E. coli bacteria. The most recent test conducted during the week of June 17 revealed elevated bacteria levels of 1,046 CFU/100 mL in the swimming area. Consequently, the Recreation Division has closed the beach until further testing shows lower bacteria levels.
